My goal is offer something different — A new way to explore, express yourself and share your story. I strive to engage individuals in an empowering journey thru the exploration of art materials and the creative process.
I work with a wide range of ages
Each stage needs something different and I will work with you to meet you wherever you are developmentally.
Preschool
Young children naturally love to create and to play. Art therapy offers a gentle, nonverbal avenue for young children who do not yet have the vocabulary to safely explore or express complex feelings. Through fine motor play and sensory exploration, children naturally learn about their world while externalizing inner experiences, allowing them to name emotions and separate their identity from their feelings. Within a nurturing therapeutic relationship, creative choices foster agency, self-esteem, and early problem-solving skills, building foundational empathy, social skills, and emotional resilience in an engaging and safe way.
School age
By using line, shape, color, and texture, school-aged children can release and process their emotions without the pressure of finding the exact right words. This creative engagement integrates multiple regions of the brain—including the visual cortex, motor areas, and the emotional limbic system—to actively support neuroplasticity and brain development. Making art offers a safe environment to experience failure, re-work mistakes, and build a growth mindset, while serving as a grounding tool for stress management. As self-awareness deepens, children build genuine self-esteem, resilience, and the social-emotional tools needed to form meaningful connections with others.
Teens
For adolescents navigating complex emotions and identity formation, art therapy provides an empowering, non-threatening space where experiences that lack words can finally be expressed. Externalizing thoughts and feelings onto paper or other media creates a safe distance, allowing teens to gain insight, reduce anxiety, and reflect on their inner worlds with clarity. The process cultivates autonomy, mastery, and pride in what is created, building healthy coping mechanisms and resilience as teens explore possibilities and develop a stronger sense of self.
Young Adults
Young adulthood is marked by significant life transitions, making it a critical time to clarify personal values, process past trauma, and establish a clear path forward. Art therapy offers a deeply reflective, non-verbal outlet to untangle complex feelings and reframe internal narratives without the pressure of conventional talk therapy. By promoting insight and personal agency, creative practice helps young adults build adaptive coping strategies, foster emotional resilience, and regain direction during times of change.
Knowing what to expect can make all the difference when starting something new. My goal is to balance predictability and routine with the freedom to make each session uniquely yours. Establishing a reliable rhythm creates the safety needed for meaningful work to happen, while ensuring you always remain in full control of what is made and what is shared.
Each session begins with a check-in to ground, connect, and set an intention for our time together. From there, we move into the art-making, which often fills the majority of our time so you have space to fully engage in the process. We then transition into reflection, clean-up, and closure so you feel grounded and ready to step back into your day.
How that creative time unfolds is completely flexible. You might arrive with a specific idea, an emotion you want to explore, or artwork from a previous session you would like to continue. We will embrace wherever you are as our starting point, selecting materials that best support what you are hoping to communicate. Other times, you might come in without any idea of where to begin—and that is welcome, too. In those moments, I might offer a material or prompt to help us start. Whether we chat, paint, build, or work in quiet reflection, I am continually listening and tuning into your needs, guiding the process in a way that keeps you feeling emotionally and physically safe.
As our work grows, I may invite you to experiment with familiar or new materials, create an image of something in your life, or externalize a feeling to see where it lives in the body. Together, we might practice a new coping strategy, build or rebuild something, reflect on past artwork, or focus on setting goals and problem-solving. Whatever direction we take, the session is always shaped around what serves you best in that moment.
